Cannibal Ox: Not your average Hip Hop

If you're a hip hop fan, I'd advise you to check out Cannibal Ox's The Cold Vein if only to hear your reaction once you listen to a few tracks. The production alone is just so weird and not anything you'd expect to be in a hip hop album; to me it sounds more like some weird old-school scifi background ambience mixed with videogame noise and drums which sound like they're stumbling over themselves. EL-P is the name of the producer (guy who made the beats) for this album, and if you like his sound you can also check out "fantastic Damage" and his other new one. ANyone heard of these groups? DOes anyone actually like them? (I'll admit here that they're not my favorite, but I'm just so glad to hear something so refreshingly different)

And it's nice and refreshing to see a thread on here not dedicated to some god awful untalented band. :) I heard the Cold Vein but it's been years at least. Thinking I'll grab it again after I finish writing this post. What little I've heard of El-P's solo stuff is alright. Caught some of his set at Coachella while waiting for Bjork; it kept me thoroughly entertained.

Let's get more threads like these going! I'll try to do my part.
